How to
develop your own horse racing betting
system
The basic idea behind a horse
racing system, and there are plenty out there, is to
establish a set of rules or guidelines that would save
you the botheration of having to calculate innumerable
data and the hassles associated with the varied choices
that one has to make at every step would be eliminated
for ever.
Often a horse racing system gives you the
rules and the guidelines and most people are content to
adopt them and follow them blindly and to the letter.
Many a times the people using the system even make decent
profits out of it. The fact remains, however, that these
systems were developed by human beings. if you were to
put mind to work then you too would be able to develop a
fairly good horse race betting system that would not help
you to make profits from your bets but would also help
you earn profits by selling the system to
others.
Here are a few horse race betting systems
that are freely available online.
I’ve suspected for some time now that there
might be money to made from going high on the draw at
Ascot, and I’ve confirmed that to be the case using my
database. The criteria are pretty simple and are as
follows:
- Round course only (i.e. NOT the straight
track)
- 2 to 6 year old males
only
- Drawn in the highest fifth of the stalls
(e.g. 13-15 in 15 runner race)
- First four in the betting
Just by applying these simple criteria,
you'd have won 59 out of 245 bets since 1997, and
returned a tidy 82.16 points profit. That's around £1,600
for £20 stakes on a strike rate of about one in
four.
- Two Year Olds With
Experience…
At this time of year, there are a lot of
races where the betting market is formed on opinions and
reputations, rather than collateral form. I am primarily
referring to two year old races here, as opposed to
seasonal debutantes who may have improved / regressed
since the previous season.
One element is more important than any other
when betting 2yo's: the benefit of previous experience.
So many horses are having their first sight of a
racetrack, their first feel of the whip, their first
listen to the noise, and so on...
A simple analysis of this has identified a
lucrative niche for betting 2yo's on their second start
early in the season (April to June).
As I tend to do, I strip out the fillies and
concentrate on colts and geldings (male horses). The
criteria are as follows:
- Having second career start
- Didn't win on their first
start
- Second favorite in the
betting
Just by applying these simple criteria,
you'd have won 96 out of 315 bets since 1998, and
returned a tidy 94.86 points profit. That's around two
grand for £20 stakes on a strike rate of over
30%.
If you were to observe these systems and
many others besides, you would realize that they have
certain common features which you would have to be blind
not to notice.
First and foremost the
most essential and common feature is the type of race
being run.
Second usually male horses are
preferred.
Third the length of the track also plays a
role.
Fourth the system makes use of past track
records as a guide for future performance
Fifth the condition of the horse is also
vital.
By using this basic information and your
powers if observation you can easily create a winning
horse racing system that would be beneficial to you in
the long run.
You also need to keep observing trends that
crop up and you also need to keep reading the trade
publications.
It may take some time but keep at it and
you’ll come up with a winning system. In the mean time
you have a number of horse race betting systems available
to you on the net that you can use to make
money.
